PM Surya Ghar Subsidy in Bangalore: How Much You Actually Get
Bangalore homeowners installing rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana receive ₹30,000 for a 1kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2kW system, and a capped ₹78,000 for systems of 3kW or larger, credited by direct bank transfer 30 to 45 days after BESCOM commissions the system.
Who is eligible
The scheme covers residential consumers with a valid BESCOM connection and a roof they own or have permission to use. Eligible households can draw up to 300 units of free electricity a month once the system is live, which is why the scheme is pitched at typical domestic consumption rather than large commercial loads.
Commercial and industrial rooftops are not covered by PM Surya Ghar, though they usually have a stronger business case on tariff savings alone.
Documents you need
Keep your latest BESCOM bill, Aadhaar, a cancelled cheque or bank passbook page for the direct transfer, and roof ownership proof ready. The bank account details must match the applicant named on the electricity connection, which is the single most common reason a payout stalls.
Why your installer choice affects eligibility
The subsidy is valid only when the installation uses ALMM-listed panels supplied through an MNRE-registered vendor. If the panels are not on the ALMM list, the claim fails regardless of how well the system performs.
Ask any installer to show the ALMM listing for the exact module they are quoting, in writing, before you sign.
